AccelerateHER: TRADE SUMMIT EMPOWERS WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS
Women entrepreneurs have been urged to take advantage of Kenya’s growing foreign diplomacy to capitalize on emerging export opportunities.
Principal Secretary, State Department of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Susan Mang’eni, Principal Secretary says the department is committed to strengthened partnerships between women entrepreneurs and trade support institutions, increased knowledge on trade facilitation and market access, and the enhancement of business linkages and potential trade deals. “Further, I reaffirm the Government’s commitment to 40% local sourcing and encourage women entrepreneurs to take advantage of the preferential public procurement under the Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) framework.” Said Mang’eni.
The PS made the remarks during the AccelerateHER Trade Summit, organized by the Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI), an initiative of the Government of the Netherlands, in conjunction with the Passion To Profit Initiative.
She noted that the summit resonates deeply with Kenya’s bilateral vision to promote trade as a sustainable tool for development, mutual knowledge exchange, and the strengthening of diplomatic and economic relations. Trade, when inclusive, becomes more than a transactional exchange; it becomes a channel for equity, dignity, and growth.
