AFRICA CLIMATE SUMMIT 2023 TO BE HOSTED IN NAIROBI, KENYA
Kenya is ready to host the three-day Africa Climate Summit 2023 which commences tomorrow to 6th of September. The government announced that it had concluded all the necessary preparations and was ready to host the over 30,000 international delegates.
Speaking at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), the venue of the historic event, Nairobi County Police Commander Adamson Bungei said the location has been secured by police officers adding that only delegates with relevant documents will be given access to the venue which is now a red zone.
This follows the zoning of the Nairobi City for ease of security management. Four key roads mapped are Harambee Avenue, Parliament Road, City Hall Way, Taifa Road, and adjacent buildings.
At the Africa Climate Summit, whose focus is driving green growth & climate finance solutions for Africa, world leaders will be called upon to make ambitious pledges and commitments. A comprehensive “Pledging and Commitment Framework” will be developed to guide these actions.
The inaugural Africa Climate Summit, championed by President William Ruto, aims to address the increasing exposure to climate change and its associated costs, both globally and particularly in Africa. With the expectation of escalating climate crisis, urgent action is required to mitigate these challenges.
The Summit will serve as a platform to inform, frame, and influence commitments, pledges, and outcomes, ultimately leading to the development of the Nairobi Declaration.
