Slain teacher and blogger Albert Omondi Ojwang’ has been laid to rest.Ojwang was laid to rest at his father’s home in Kakoth Kokwanyo village in Homa Bay County. His burial was attended by his colleagues,friends,family,civil society groups and politicians from the region.
During his burial,leaders and Kenyans alike renewed calls for an end to police brutality and extrajudicial killings in the country.Area leaders led by area governor Gladys Wanga vowed to ensure justice is served for Albert and his family and that those found culpable are prosecuted.
Thursday,angry mourners set Mawego police station in Homa Bay County on fire. Albert was held at Mawego police station when he was arrested at his father’s home in Kakoth before he was ferried to Nairobi where he would later die.
Albert died on 7th of June 2025 in police custody died at the age of 31 years old in what postmortem revealed was blunt force trauma and neck compression .He lives behind a toddler and a young wife.
