BUILDING TVET LINKAGES

The state department for TVET has established the directorate of vocational education and training to provide linkage and coordination with county governments in areas of policy co-ordination.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba said the co-ordination is also achieved “ Through various semi-autonomous agencies under the state department like the TVET Authority Kenya (TVETA), Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) and TVET Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council (TVET CDACC).”
The Cabinet Secretary made the remarks when he appeared before the Senate plenary on Wednesday morning to respond to questions on various issues in the education sector. Ogamba said TVETA has so registered 1,174 vocational training centres and over 9221 trainers nationwide. On the
Meanwhile, the Cabinet Secretary said the remuneration of primary school head teachers will be reviewed upwards to reflect their expanded responsibilities under the Competence Based Curriculum. According to the CS the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) will do a comprehensive job evaluation in the public teaching sector in the financial year 2025-2026 to job content, input and output factors and the new responsibilities.
