DEAL TO CAPACITY BUILD TVET TRAINERS IN KENYA INKED

The State Department for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Kenya, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Newcastle, Australia.
A key highlight of the agreement signed between the University Chancellor, Hon. Patricia Forsythe and the Principal Secretary TVET Dr. Esther Muoria, during her visit to Australia, is the capacity building of trainers through the Kenya School of TVET.
Strategic discussions have been held with the School of Education and the School of Business, focusing on strengthening collaboration in critical areas of TVET transformation. Joint curriculum development and assessment, academic exchange programmes, and the alignment and standardization of qualifications frameworks are among the proposed areas of collaboration.
This collaboration will facilitate seamless recognition of Kenyan qualifications in Australia, enhancing graduate mobility and progression.

Further, deliberations emphasized the empowerment of trainees with impactful entrepreneurial skills, to prepare them for gainful employment and to position them as future employers. The partnership also envisions transforming TVET institutions into productive hubs that function as industries, offering the first point of empowerment for trainees through hands-on experience, innovation, and enterprise development.
