CHELUGET FAMILY SAYS GOVT OFFERED TO BUY NAROK LAND
The family of the late Isaiah Kiplangat Cheluget is backing President William Ruto’s announcement that he reached an agreement with the family to buy the 5,800-acre tract of land owned by the late Cheluget to resettle more than 13,000 families evicted from the Mau Forest.
Speaking in Nairobi on Saturday, the family led by Ambassador Nancy Kirui, confirmed having been in contact with the President’s representatives and agreed to dispose off their father’s land.
The family has also distanced itself from claims by one Moses Kipkirui Cheluget, who on Friday claimed to be the son of the late Cheluget and threatened legal action over the remarks by the president during his tour of Narok South. The family says Moses is an impostor and not the son of the late Cheluget.
