Chief Justice Martha Koome has condemned vandalism of courts infrastructure by individuals who infiltrated the youth led demonstrations on Wednesday 25th of June 2025.
Speaking at the Kikuyu law courts where there was complete vandalism of the courts,the Chief termed the incident an affront to the constitution and the rule of law.
Other courts that were vandalized we the Ol kalau law courts building and the new Dagoretti law courts.
Koome saying these acts compromise the Judiciary’s ability to deliver justice ,disrupt adminstration of justice for ordinary Kenyans and undermine efforts to expand access to justice.
While acknowledging article 37 of the constitution which guarantees a right to peaceful assembly and demonstration, Koome emphasized that such rights do not extend to violence and destruction of property.
