JUA KALI ARTISANS RECEIVE PRIOR LEARNING CERTIFICATES

Jua Kali artisans from the North Rift region have received certification after undertaking a comprehensive Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment program.

The government initiative which is implemented by Kitale National Polytechnic in partnership with Kenya Qualification Authority aims to validate and certify the skills of individuals working in the informal sector.

The programme focuses on levels four and five of electrical installation and bee production. It will also provide a level 5 craft certificate for those who aspire to become office administrators. Dr. Lucas Ongeri, the deputy principal in charge of academics said the programme will align candidates with qualifications and awards based on a polytechnic order issued in 2016.

He emphasized the vital role of the program in acknowledging untapped skills within communities adding that the initiative will enable individuals to secure certifications by providing a structured pathway for these skills, opening doors for meaningful contributions and improving employability and job opportunities.
