NAIVAS REFUTES CLAIMS OF SHUTDOWN OVER SALE OF EXPIRED PRODUCTS

Naivas supermarket has refuted claims circulating on social media regarding the alleged sale of expired products and the supposed closure of Nairobi branches by authorities.

In a statement today Naivas said no expired products have been found on their shelves, saying the chain of supermarkets maintains stringent internal quality control and stock management systems across all their branches to ensure product safety and compliance with health regulations

The management further said that no branch has been closed by any regulatory or health authority.

However Nairobi county health committee said the supermarket ‘s spot check of one of the retailers found expired yoghurt on the shelves and also found some products without expiry dates.The supermarket chain has also been accused of using staff who are not satisfied.

The closure is said to allow a thorough investigation into the supermarkets. Naivas Supermarkets operates over 30 branches within Nairobi County.
