NGUGI WA THIONG’O SIGNS OUT
Celebrated literature giant Ngugi Wathiong’o has died at the age of 87. The family of the late Ngugi announced his passing Wednesday the 28th of May 2025. “He lived a full life, fought a good fight. As was his last wish, let’s celebrate his life and his work”, read a post by his daughter Wanjiku wa Ngugi on facebook.
Ngugi is widely regarded as Kenya’s most influential writer and one of Africa’s leading literary voices. His works include novels, plays, short stories. He also authored children literature. Some of his books were also adopted in Kenya’s school curriculum.
Some of his most celebrated works include Ngahika Ndeda, The river between, Weep not child, Devil on the cross among many others include.
