PRESIDENT RUTO NOMINATES IEBC CHAIR, COMMISSIONERS

President William Ruto has nominated Erastus Edung Ethekon as the new Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairperson to succeed the late Wafula Chebukati.

Ethekon is among 11 candidates interviewed for the positon by the Dr. Nelson Makanda led selection panel. 48 year old Ethekon hails from Turkana County is a human rights lawyer and former Starehe Boys Centre alumnus.

Of the 105 applicants for positions of IEBC Commissioners President Ruto  also picked 6 nominees for appointment as IEBC commissioners namely registrar of political parties Ann Njeri Nderitu (Nyandarua County,) Moses Alutalala Mukwana (Kakamega County), Mary Karen Sorobit (Uasin Gishu County), Hassan Noor Hassan (Mandera County), Francis Odhiambo Aduol (Kisumu County) and Fahima Araphat Abdallah (Lamu County). 

The nominations have been forwarded to the National Assembly for vetting in line with the constitution and statutory requirements.
