REVIEW OF SKILLS FOR THE LABOUR MARKET

There is need for re-crafting of crucial skills to meet the labour market. Principal Secretary for Labour and Skills Development Geoffrey Kaituko says a labour migration strategy is in progress to ensure Kenya meets the high demand for workers from foreign nations.

Kaituko made the remarks when he hosted his TVET counterpart Dr. Esther Thaara Muoria. The two discussed a wide range of issues concerning training and imparting of employability skills.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection through the National Employment Authority (NEA) is currently re-evaluating employment agencies to curb unethical recruitment in the country. Additionally, TVETs have been urged to collaborate with the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) to produce quality personnel in the labour industry.
