SAMBURU TECHNICAL’S GREENING INITIATIVE

Officials at Samburu Technical and Vocational Training College have launched a school greening program aimed at combating the effects of climate change in a region often affected by extreme heat and seasonal droughts.

The initiative, led by the college principal, Ms. Lucy Mutembei saw students, teachers, and pupils from various schools converge at the institution to collect tree seedlings from its nursery, in preparation for a mass tree planting exercise. More than 1,000 trees were planted across selected school compounds and police station grounds courtesy of the initiative.

Dr. Adelina Mugure, the TVET Regional Director, stated that the program is part of efforts to implement the presidential target to plant 15 billion trees by the year 2032 .
