KENYAN TVET INSTITUTIONS SHINE IN NATIONAL FAIR

The recent National TVET Fair erupted with talent and innovation as technical and vocational education institutions from across the country battled for top honors in Nairobi. The event served as a powerful testament to the rising standard and critical importance of skills training in building a robust Kenyan economy.
Leading the pack with an impressive medal haul was Kiambu National Polytechnic, which solidified its reputation as a center of excellence by securing victories in multiple high-stakes categories. The institution demonstrated a well-rounded mastery of technical skills, earning trophies and medals in:

  • Gold in Mechatronics Skills – A field that combines mechanics, electronics, and computing, highlighting Kenya’s advancing capabilities in automation and smart technology.
  • A Silver Medal in Applied Science – Recognizing exceptional practical application of scientific research and principles to solve real-world problems.
  • Trophy Winner: Civil Engineering (Category 2) – Showcasing excellence in the foundational skills required for building and infrastructure development.

The chief guest at the event, Dr. Esther Muoria, commended all participating students for their focused and innovative spirit. She emphasized that their “keen interest and focus on skills, research, and innovation” are precisely what the nation needs to drive growth and development.

Echoing this sentiment, Chief Principal Sammy Waititu of Kiambu National Polytechnic credited the success to a deliberate institutional strategy. “The management has taken major steps in empowering students to excel in skills and innovation,” he stated, underscoring the polytechnic’s commitment to practical, hands-on learning.
