The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection with support from CIVIPOL and other key anti-trafficking stakeholders has launched guidelines for Labour Inspection Services In Addressing Trafficking in Persons for the Purpose of labour exploitation in Kenya.
Principal Secretary Labour and Skills Development Shadrack Mwadime says the guidelines will be used by Labour Officers/Occupational Safety and Health Officers of the inspection services under the ministry They will be shared amongst all inspectorate members to ensure effective use and implementation.
Trafficking in persons for the purpose of labour exploitation remains one of the most pervasive forms of human rights violation and serious crime. Kenya has seen increasing cases of both local and foreign nationals trafficked within, into, or through the country.
