The County Government of Nyeri has announced 149 job vacancies on permanent and pensionable terms, opening employment opportunities for qualified professionals across the health, finance and agriculture sectors. The vacancies were advertised by the Nyeri County Public Service Board, with the Department of Medical Services and Public Health accounting for the majority of the positions.
145 Health Sector Vacancies
The county is seeking to recruit 145 health professionals who will be deployed to various county health facilities. The positions include 59 registered nurses under Job Group H, seven medical laboratory technologists, seven assistant public health officers and five nursing officers.
Other vacancies include one pathologist under Job Group Q, three registered anaesthetists under Job Group K, four medical officers under Job Group M, one dental officer under Job Group M and two orthopaedic officers under Job Group H. The recruitment comes a week after Nyeri Governor Dr Mutahi Kahiga announced plans to hire additional medical personnel to strengthen healthcare services across the county.
Speaking during the induction of the seventh cohort of county interns, Kahiga said the recruitment would target professionals in different medical cadres.
“We are going to hire more than 137 medical personnel in the next two to three weeks. If you qualify and if you meet the requirements, apply and you will be hired,” he said.
Opportunities in Finance and Agriculture
Beyond healthcare, the recruitment drive includes two accountant positions in the Department of Finance and Economic Planning. The Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Aquaculture is also seeking an agricultural inspector and a plant mechanic, creating opportunities for professionals with relevant technical and agricultural skills. The vacancies highlight the range of career pathways available to graduates and skilled professionals across county government departments.
Application Deadline
Eligible applicants have been directed to obtain the full job descriptions, requirements and application guidelines through the Nyeri County Government website. Applicants are required to complete the prescribed employment form and attach copies of their academic and professional certificates and testimonials. Completed applications should be delivered to the Nyeri County Public Service Board offices on or before September 29, 2026. The Board said salaries for successful candidates will be determined in accordance with Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) guidelines.
Applicants Warned Against Fraud
The County Public Service Board has cautioned applicants against individuals seeking money or favours in exchange for employment. The Board emphasized that recruitment, shortlisting and appointment processes are conducted without charges and that employment will be based on merit.
“The County Public Service Board does not charge for any of the recruitment exercises including shortlisting and appointments. Any request for payment or favours should therefore be reported to the police for appropriate action,” the Board said.
